Our Programs

Spiritual Intellegence

Our focus is spiritual transformation and spiritual formation. At Dare2BUncommon, we focus on cultivating relationships with people and developing environments that facilitate deep spiritual transformation. Research shows that Christians are not realistic or transparent about themselves. We implement true faith formation. We make continual, honest evaluations of ourselves so that we can uncover the ways in which our lives do not accurately reflect what we profess. We assist every one of our members to create their own personal, individualized, spiritual growth and emotional development plan; to assess where we are quarterly, bi-annually and annually. Our enthusiasm for evangelism is matched by our passion for and patience with discipleship and faith formation. Our task is to be effective agents of spiritual transformation and spiritual formation in people lives.

Emotional Literacy

Just as verbal literacy is the basic building-block for reading and writing, emotional literacy is the basis for perceiving and communicating emotions. Becoming emotionally literate is learning the alphabet, grammar and vocabulary of our emotional lives. Emotions are an integral part of human nature. Through emotions we respond to life in many different ways -- with anger, happiness, fear, love and loneliness. Emotions influence our thoughts and actions; they inspire our needs; they affect our bodies and impact on our relationships. Our emphasis is on cultivating relationships 1st with ourselves then with people and developing environments that facilitate deep spiritual transformation.

Accountablity

Being open to share what is truy going on in your life is expected. Because sharing opens the door to accountability to other members in the group. The Christian life is too difficult to live in isolation. Memebers without accountable relationships open themselves to potential trouble. At Dare2BUncommon we use quality small groups to promote accountability and encourage members to share their struggles. A feeling of community is developed in a small group as members grow in a scriptural understanding of loving one another. Implementing the small group structure reassures accountablity and teaches our membeers that they can rely on fellowship family during difficult times.

Community Driven Programs

Our ultimate purpose at Dare2BUncommon is to serve God’s people. While our Spiritual Programs primary focus is on teens and young adults, our Community Driven Programs are designed for anyone who is interested. We connect with the community offering services geared to all ages. These programs enhance our ability to serve the community in a variety of ways.

Another purpose of Dare2BUncommon is to serve the community and our community driven programs assist us in doing exactly that. We provide community driven programs that not only make a difference. From partnering with parents to motivating teens to have a voice; to starting an infectious reading initiative; to educating and supporting those living with HIV; our programs have a lasting impact within the community.

Our Potential Members

Identifying our potential members and their level of commitment are critical to the success of our programs. There are five categories of potential members that join Dare2BUncommon. Recognizing the five categories leads to the effectiveness of our programs. The five categories are the Non-Christian, the New Christian, the young member who knows a great deal about the Bible but is apathetic about most things we do, the growing member and the spiritual leader. Recognizing our potential members are done by using a series of five concentric circles we call the “Circles of Commitment.”

The “Circles of Commitment” clearly identifies who we are trying to reach. The objective is to reach youth and young adults from a community and move them to core commitments. The purpose of the circles is not to isolate members; instead they are used to recognize commitment levels so we can enhance growth by being more strategic in our program designs.

Commitment Levels

Community members are committed to not attending church--they are living apart from Christ. Crowd members are committed to attending church--they are hearing about Christ. Congregation members are committed to a small group--they have a relationship with Christ and with other Christians. Committed members are committed to spiritual habits--they are growing in Christ. Core members are committed to doing ministry--they are serving because of Jesus Christ.
